Ellipse Aviation is here to help you complete your flight hours and guide you through the process of obtaining your Ultra-Light Pilot Permit and Instructor Rating. Our instructors guide you through each flight and ground school training as your lessons progress, providing each student with a personalized, hands-on experience. Ultra-Light Pilot Permit
Fly Basic and Advanced Ultra-Light Aircraft solo.
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Must hold a Category 4 Medical Certificate valid for a Pilot Permit - Ultra-Light Aeroplane
- Must have completed a minimum of 20 hours of Ultra-Light aeroplane pilot ground school instruction (on the following subjects: Air Law, Navigation, Meteorology, Aeronautics, and Emergency Procedures)
- Must have passed PSTAR written test to obtain a Student Pilot Permit
- Must have obtained a minimum of 60% on the written examination Pilot Permit - Ultra-Light Aeroplane (ULTRA)
- Must have acquired a minimum of 10 hours of total flight time, including 5 hours dual instruction and 2 hours solo

Ultra-Light Passenger Carrying Rating
Obtain the additional privilege of carrying passengers with your Ultra-Light Pilot Permit.
- Must be a least 16 years of age
- Must hold a Category 4 Medical Certificate valid for a Pilot Permit - Ultra-Light Aeroplane
- Must have acquired a minimum of 25 hours of total flight time, including 15 hours dual instruction, 2 hours cross-country flight time, and 5 hours solo flight time
- Must have successfully completed a flight test
Study and Reference Guide (Passenger Carrying Rating)
Ultra-Light Flight Instructor Rating
Train and teach students on Ultra-Light Aircraft.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must hold a Category 3 Medical Certificate
- Must have acquired at least 10 hours of training in instructional techniques
- Must have obtained 80% on the written examination Flight Instructor Rating Instructional Techniques (FITEN)
- Must have successfully completed ground school training, including normal and emergency procedures, on Ultra-Light aeroplanes
- Must have obtained 90% on the written examination ULTRA
- Must have acquired a minimum of 50 hours flight time, including 5 hours of dual instruction, 5 hours of dual flight time on instructional techniques, and 25 hours solo flight time
- Must have successfully completed a flight test
